About Emma K. Doub Elementary School

Emma K Doub Elementary School is a PreK through 5th grade community school located in Hagerstown, Maryland with a current enrollment of approximately 315 students.

EKD is a magnet school and attracts advanced learners from across the county.  Approximately 80 of our students comprise our magnet program which spans grades 2-5.   EKD was recognized as an EGATE school in 2010 for demonstrating Excellence in Gifted and Talented Education from MSDE and has been recognized as an Apple Distinguished School for 2013-2022.

Emma K Doub is a school focused on infusing instructional technology through the curriculum through teaching with engaging tools and resources.  Teachers provide opportunities for all students to learn and demonstrate understanding with tools such as 1:1 iPads, mobile laptop labs, digital photography, green screen technology, etc.  In addition, our school utilizes an Integrated Arts program where Encore teachers (music, art, physical education, and media) work collaboratively with classroom teachers on developing integrated lessons that help our students learn content through the arts.  Students are offered the opportunity to choose an Elective such as theater or digital media once a week to extend learning.

Students at EKD are given the resources they need in order to help them to be successful, whether they need intervention to close instructional gaps, enrichment opportunities, or challenges/support within the classroom.  Students work collaboratively with one another, even across grade levels, as they serve as reading buddies to older/younger students.

At Emma K Doub, we challenge, connect, and create to achieve!
